A short car journey will take you to the city of Nottingham, where plenty of pubs, eateries and attractions await.
Nottingham Castle is an imposing structure that overlooks the city, the National Justice Museum tells the story of English law and justice, and for the science-lovers, Green’s Windmill and Science Centre makes a fantastic afternoon.
Slightly further afield is the historic town of Newark; the town centre is centred around the imposing Newark Castle, which dominates the skyline, while the castle gardens are a popular attraction, and the nearby Newark Air Museum, home to a range of aircraft from World War II onwards, are worth visiting too.
While you’re in the area, be sure to spend some time discovering Sherwood Forest, known for its legendary association with Robin Hood!
